Lunch by the dumpster
Mersh at a table beside a dumpster, mouth full, holding out a drink cup, with the big white cat sitting opposite him — a lit cigarette in its mouth. A burger and two heaps of fries are between them.
Two figures facing each other across a table drawn in pure outline, with the dumpster bulking behind them. Mersh and the cat are both coloured and everything else on the sheet is left as line, so the pair read as the only solid things in it.
Green and ochre through Mersh against the cool blue-grey of the dumpster. The cat is uncoloured paper.
Ink line throughout with colour taken only as far as the two characters and abandoned for the setting — a working decision left in place rather than tidied.
Watercolour and ink on paper.
No signature within the painted area.
