Landscapes — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

Two watercolour studies of green farmland against blue hills — one with cloud banked above a dark tree line, the other a wider view falling away to a pale sky.
Both are ruled horizontals stacked on the page. The upper puts the hills as a violet mass behind a hard green band; the lower drops the horizon low and lets the fields run back in overlapping layers.
Emerald, chartreuse and sap green through the fields, against hills in cobalt and violet. The upper sky carries rose and apricot; the lower is a flat pale blue with two lilac clouds.
Transparent and layered, the fields laid as flat bands one over another with hard dried edges, and the trees stamped along their seams in separate dark touches.
Watercolour on paper in a sketchbook, two studies on one page. A studio photograph of a page rather than a single picture.
No signature legible at this scale.
