Landscapes — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

Around eleven watercolour studies across a sketchbook spread — rolling green farmland under hills, a close study of a canopy of trees against the sky, a lane running between poplars, and a grey mountain range above a yellow flat.
Four large studies at the corners with a row of thumbnails across the middle. The tree-canopy study is the only one read looking up; the other three all look out and level, which is what makes it stand out.
Emerald, bottle green and olive throughout, with the fields in chartreuse and ochre. The mountain study at the lower right adds slate and violet and is the only cool one.
The canopy is built from separate rounded touches with sky left showing between them, each leaf-mass a single loaded stroke. The farmland studies are flat washes laid band on band.
Watercolour in a spiral-bound sketchbook, around eleven studies on one spread, dated. A studio photograph of a page with the brushes used, not a single picture.
No signature legible at this scale.
