Landscapes — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

Three watercolour studies on a sketchbook page — two cloud studies over flat country, and a larger one of orange sea cliffs falling to turquoise water.
Three ruled rectangles with the fourth box left blank. The cliff study is the only one with a vertical: the rock enters from the right and drops the full depth of the panel, while the two above are all horizon.
The cloud studies are cobalt, pewter and olive. The cliff study below is the opposite — cadmium orange, scarlet and oxblood in the rock against jade and teal water.
The cloud is built from separate flat touches with hard dried edges, stacked rather than modelled. The cliff is laid wet and dark over a warm ground, with the surf reserved as bare paper.
Watercolour on paper in a sketchbook, three studies with a fourth box left unpainted. A studio photograph of a page rather than a single picture.
No signature legible at this scale.
