Landscapes — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

Eleven small watercolour studies ruled across a sketchbook spread — suburban streets with utility poles, parked trucks, strip-mall frontages, and dark trees against violet desert mountains.
A loose grid of eleven boxes of similar size, none dominant. Every one sets a low green foreground against a violet range and a pale sky, with a pole, a tree or a vehicle placed as the single vertical.
Violet and periwinkle ranges behind, chartreuse and emerald foregrounds in front, with the sky left almost white. The repetition of that one chord across eleven studies is the point of the page.
Very quick — two or three flat washes each, with the trees stamped as single loaded touches and the poles drawn last in one stroke. None is corrected or returned to.
Watercolour in a spiral-bound sketchbook, eleven studies on one spread. A studio photograph of a page rather than a single picture.
No signature legible at this scale.
