Landscapes — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

Seven watercolour studies across a sketchbook spread — wooded hills, a blossoming tree over a riverbank, a green valley, snow peaks above a lake, a rocky coast, and a small painted eye in hot orange at the centre.
Six landscape boxes arranged round the edges with one tiny square at the dead centre carrying a close-up human eye. That small panel is the whole interest of the page: it interrupts the landscape grid on purpose.
Emerald, teal and violet through the landscapes. The eye panel is cadmium orange and scarlet with a cobalt iris, and is the only saturated warm note on the spread.
The landscapes are flat wet washes with dark masses dropped in; the eye is drawn and modelled with a fine brush over dry colour, worked far harder than anything around it.
Watercolour in a spiral-bound sketchbook, seven studies on one spread. A studio photograph of a page with the paintbox used, not a single picture.
No signature legible at this scale.
