Landscapes, Sunsets — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

Four watercolour sheets overlapping on a table — a wide valley under heavy blue cloud as the principal, with two banded sunsets and a green landscape beneath it.
The sheets fan out from the lower left and recede to the upper right. The principal study runs its tree line as a hard green diagonal across the middle with the cloud mass above it taking two thirds.
Ultramarine and violet through the cloud over fields of emerald and sap green. The two sunsets below break into cadmium orange, scarlet and plum, set directly against that blue.
Flooded wet with the cloud allowed to granulate and settle, and the tree line stamped along the horizon in separate dark touches once dry. The sunsets are laid band on band and left.
Watercolour on paper, four works. A studio photograph of sheets laid over one another, not a single picture.
Along the lower edge of several sheets, raypatrick, in small spaced letters.
