Landscapes, Sunsets — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

Eight watercolour studies across a sketchbook spread — a palm against a burning sunset over rooftops, green mountains above a valley, a wide tan flat with scattered scrub, and a long wave study along the bottom.
The sunset holds the upper left at size and the wave runs the full width at the foot as a narrow strip. Between them the thumbnails are stacked without a grid, fitted to whatever space was left.
Cadmium orange, scarlet and gold in the sunset against roofs in violet and plum. The landscape studies are emerald and ochre, and the wave strip is pure cobalt and teal.
The sunset is flooded wet with the smoke dragged upward through it while still running. The wave is laid in two long horizontal pulls and left; most of it is bare paper.
Watercolour in a spiral-bound sketchbook, eight studies on one spread. A studio photograph of a page rather than a single picture.
No signature legible at this scale.
