Landscapes, Seascapes — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

A wave in the act of throwing, the lip curling over and the tube open beneath it, worked in green and gold against a warm sky.
The wave fills the sheet and runs corner to corner, its crest cropped at the top. The tube opens just left of centre and is the one still place; the whole lower half is broken water worked in dark hatching.
Viridian, emerald and bottle green through the face with cadmium yellow and ochre in the sky and the trough. The shadowed lip is a deep plum, and the paper is left bare in the foam.
Transparent washes dropped wet into wet so the greens and golds meet without a seam, with the broken water below built from short dark hatched strokes laid over dry colour.
Watercolour with pen and ink on paper, over a ruled pencil border.
No signature visible within the painted area.
