Landscapes, Surfing, Seascapes — marker drawing by Ray Patrick

A surfer in silhouette dropping down the face of a green wave, drawn in pen over flat marker colour, with a banded blue sky above.
The wave runs as a long diagonal from the left and the figure stands on its shoulder at the upper left, small against it. The sky above and the foam below are both laid as horizontal strips, so the diagonal is the only movement in the sheet.
Cobalt, cerulean and dove in the sky; emerald, chartreuse and viridian through the wave face. The figure is flat black and the board carries one stroke of crimson.
Marker laid in flat overlapping strips that never blend, with the whole surface drawn into afterwards in a loose pen line that follows the run of the water rather than outlining it.
Marker and ink in a sketchbook.
No signature visible within the drawn area.
