Landscapes, Seascapes, Sunsets — oil painting by Ray Patrick

Two small oil panels on a table — a grey mountain range above a green bench, and a sunset over a flat horizon with the light burning low across it.
The two lie at opposing angles. The mountain panel is built on a level horizon with the range taking the upper half; the sunset below is nine tenths sky and has no form in it at all.
Pewter, slate and bone in the range against emerald and olive on the bench. The sunset beside it is the opposite in every way — ultramarine cloud over cadmium orange, scarlet and lemon.
Loaded and flat in both, the rock laid as angular slabs and the sunset in long horizontal pulls of unmixed colour. Nothing is blended in either panel.
Oil on canvas paper, two panels with unpainted margins. A studio photograph of a pair of works, not a single picture.
No signature legible at this scale.
