Landscapes, Seascapes, Sunsets — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

A watercolour of a pier at sunset, the sky and the water both flooded scarlet and divided by one hard band of indigo, lying on a sheet of pen cartoon drawings.
The picture is split almost exactly in half by the dark sea band, with the sky above and its reflection below. The pier is a thin black line running in from the left, the only drawn thing in it.
Crimson, scarlet and oxblood through both halves with plum at the top edge. The sea band is a hard ultramarine and the only cool colour anywhere.
Flooded wet so the reds run into one another with no edges inside them, with the sea band laid as one decisive stroke over dry paint and the pier drawn in last.
Watercolour on paper. A studio photograph lying on sheets of pen cartoon drawings, which are separate works.
Lower right, raypatrick, in dark red over the water.
