Landscapes, Seascapes, Sunsets — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

A sunset seen down a narrow street between two dark buildings, with a mast or pole and its stays crossing the sky and palms on the beach at the far end.
Upright and built as a funnel, the two buildings closing in from the edges and the sky a tall wedge between them. The stays run out from the pole in long diagonals and rule that wedge into panels.
Cadmium yellow and gold at the horizon rising through scarlet and rose to violet and cobalt at the top. The buildings either side are deep plum and indigo with one lamp burning orange at the right.
Flooded wet with the sky allowed to run band into band, the buildings cut in flat over dry colour, and the stays and railings drawn last as fine ink lines straight across the finished wash.
Watercolour with pen and ink on paper.
No signature visible within the painted area.
