Landscapes, Seascapes — oil painting by Ray Patrick

A beach and pier seen along the sand, two palms close at the left, a lifeguard tower in the middle distance and the pier running out to the right.
A wide panoramic format. The pier enters from the right on a diagonal and the palms close the left, leaving the centre open for the beach and the figures scattered on it.
A clean cerulean sky over turquoise water with a band of white surf. The sand is warm cream; the palms are a strong sap green and the pier's buildings carry coral and terracotta.
The sand is dragged in long horizontal strokes with the texture of the board breaking through. The palms are built from separate frond strokes, and the figures are single dark flecks.
Oil on canvas board. Moderately loaded with the weave strongly visible; photographed on the lid of the studio paintbox.
Right of centre, raypatrick, in white over the sand, letters widely spaced.
