Landscapes, Seascapes — marker drawing by Ray Patrick

Three studies on a sketchbook page — two small marker townscapes of a street corner above the sea, and below them a large sunset reduced entirely to horizontal bands.
The two townscapes sit side by side at the top and the band study fills the lower two thirds. It has no object, no horizon and no scale — only the order of its stripes.
The townscapes are olive, plum and teal with one yellow road line. The band study runs cadmium yellow at the top through rose and violet to teal and near-black at the foot, with one hot orange flare at the left.
The townscapes are flat marker laid in broad strokes. The band study is laid wet, stripe against stripe, each left to dry at its own hard edge, with the paper showing between several of them.
Marker and watercolour in a sketchbook, three studies on one page. A studio photograph of a page rather than a single picture.
No signature legible at this scale.
