Landscapes — oil painting by Ray Patrick

Three small oil panels of green hillsides falling toward blue water, laid out on a table, with one in the foreground showing a dark tree on the slope.
The panels lie at angles to one another and to the frame. In all three the hill runs on a steep diagonal and the water closes the upper corner, so none of them has a level horizon anywhere.
Emerald, sap green and chartreuse through the slopes with flecks of bone and lilac, against cobalt and ultramarine water. The one tree is a dense bottle green and the darkest thing in the group.
Heavy impasto, laid in short strokes that all run with the fall of the hill, so the direction of the paint is the direction of the land. The board edges are painted white.
Oil on canvas board, three panels. A studio photograph of a group of works rather than a single picture.
No signature legible at this scale.
