Landscapes — oil painting by Ray Patrick

A coast road seen from above with a truck and a van on it, a dense tree at the centre, and a rail line and the sea beyond.
The road runs across the lower half on a long diagonal and the tree sits dead centre as the one dark mass. The rail line and the sea lie flat behind, and two palms enter at the upper left.
Cerulean and periwinkle with white cloud over a sea of deep blue. The road is pale lavender and bone; the truck is cadmium orange and the only saturated warm note.
Thick and square, each plane one loaded stroke with an abrupt end. The tree is built from short stabbed dark strokes and the road is dragged in long flat pulls.
Oil on canvas board. Heavy impasto with the weave visible throughout.
No signature visible within the painted area.
