Landscapes — oil painting by Ray Patrick

A coast road seen from above, with very tall palms crossing the view, a rail line and lagoon beyond, and the sea closing the distance.
The palms run top to bottom at the right and are cropped by the upper edge, dividing the picture; the road sweeps in from the lower left and the land recedes in flat bands behind. Figures on the pavement give the scale.
A clean cerulean sky over ultramarine sea, with the land in olive, sage and bone. The road's yellow kerb line is the one saturated warm note and runs the full width.
Thick and square, each plane one loaded stroke left exactly as it landed. The palm trunks are single long pulls of grey-violet drawn over finished paint; the figures are two marks each.
Oil on canvas board. Heavy impasto, with the weave visible at the margins.
Along the lower edge, raypatrick, in red over the kerb, letters widely spaced.
