Kwik-E-Mart
A convenience store hold-up drawn in ink: a man in glasses with a cigarette raises a fist across the counter while the clerk throws his hands up behind it. Cigarette racks lettered MENTHOL and NEWPORT fill the wall, a NO SHOPLIFTING sign hangs at the register, and a large dark figure stands in the immediate foreground with his back to us.
Staged in depth across the counter, with the foreground figure cropped hard at the right edge as a black mass that frames the action and pushes it back. The racks of product behind flatten the space again, so the two readings fight.
Black ink on white. No colour.
Open contour for the figures against dense black fill in the foreground and the ceiling, with the stock on the shelves suggested by rapid repeated marks rather than drawn. The hatching is reserved for the clerk and the shadowed side of the counter.
Ink in a sketchbook.
No signature visible.
