It never fails
A man stands in a doorway with a one-word question — wut — while a cat in his arms is noisily sick down his front. The rest of the room is a wall of black with rain or static falling through it.
The lit doorway is a pale rectangle at the left and the right two-thirds of the sheet is solid black, so the figure is pinned in the only bright corner. The cat sits at the exact centre of the light.
Black ink on white. No colour.
Heavy brushed black over most of the sheet with the doorway reserved as bare paper, and fine hatching used only inside the lit area. The falling marks in the dark are scratched in with a dry nib.
