Gatling gun
A sketchbook page of inks over pencil: a bald man in the foreground roaring with his head thrown back, and above him a woman with a long braid firing a multi-barrelled gun, the spent casings spraying down across his face.
Two figures on one steep diagonal, the gun barrel running out of the upper right corner and the shouting head filling the lower half. The stream of casings is the line that ties them together.
Black ink over graphite on white. No colour.
Pencil construction left visible beneath the inking, which is unfinished — the foreground head is fully worked while the figure above is still open line. Hatching is used for the beard and the shadow under the jaw and nowhere else.
Ink over pencil in a sketchbook. Photographed at a steep angle rather than scanned.
No signature; the page is unfinished.
