Fashion — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

Four figures on skateboards and roller skates seen from above against a flooded blue ground — a woman in a black swimsuit on a yellow board, one in a pink top on skates, and two more cropped at the right.
The figures run across the spread at different heights, all seen from above and all moving right to left, with their shadows thrown long beneath them. There is no ground plane — the blue is a field, not a floor.
Cobalt and cerulean through the ground with flesh in sienna and ochre. The boards carry the hot notes — cadmium yellow, coral, chartreuse — and the hair is a dense violet-black.
Pen first, fast and sure, with the washes dropped inside the line and the blue flooded round the figures afterwards, running over the drawing at the edges. The shadows are single transparent strokes.
Watercolour with pen and ink in a spiral-bound sketchbook.
No signature visible within the drawn area.
