The head fills the sheet and is cropped at the crown and the shoulder. The hair is a single pale mass surrounding the face, and the dark ground presses in on it from every side.
Chartreuse and lemon in the lit planes of the face with rose in the shadows and a hard cyan mouth. The hair is dove and lilac; the ground ultramarine, violet and emerald.
Marker in broad directional strokes that never blend, with the construction of the face left visible as faint ruled lines beneath the ink drawing laid over the top.
