Portraits, Fashion — picture by Ray Patrick

A woman's head turned over her bare shoulder, her curling hair piled dark above her, against a ground of flat blue strokes.
The head is set high and right of centre, cropped at the crown, with the shoulder running out of the lower left corner. The hair takes more of the sheet than the face and is drawn far more loosely.
The face is left almost entirely as bare paper with a few strokes of sage and apricot and one magenta mouth. The hair is navy and black with rust curls; the ground is cobalt and cerulean.
Marker laid in broad vertical strokes for the ground, with the drawing in a fast pen line over the top. The lights on the face are untouched paper and do most of the modelling.
Marker and ink in a sketchbook.
No signature visible within the drawn area.
