Fashion — ink drawing by Ray Patrick

A woman's head turned over her shoulder and looking down, her hair a great dark mass worked in blue, violet and green, drawn in ink and marker.
The head fills the whole sheet and is cropped at the crown and the shoulder. The hair takes more than half the picture and is far more worked than the face, which is left largely as bare paper.
Chartreuse and lemon in the lit planes of the face against teal and cobalt in the shadows, with the mouth in cadmium orange. The hair runs violet, ultramarine, emerald and rust.
Marker in broad directional strokes that stay separate, with the ink line laid over the top in one unhesitating pass. The lights on the face are untouched paper, never painted.
Marker and ink on sketchbook paper.
No signature visible within the drawn area.
