Fashion — ink drawing by Ray Patrick

A showgirl in a yellow feathered headdress and a white fur stole, head thrown back and mouth open, drawn in ink over flooded colour.
The figure fills the sheet on a diagonal, cropped at the thigh and at the top of the plume. The flooded blue ground is poured in behind her head and the rust one below, so the colour frames her without describing a room.
Vermilion and scarlet through the figure, laid flat with no modelling. The headdress is cadmium yellow, the stole bare paper, and the ground behind runs cobalt, teal and rust.
Pen line first and fast, with the colour flooded inside and around it and allowed to bleed past the drawing. The fur is pure line on untouched paper and carries the lightest passage in the picture.
Watercolour with pen and ink on paper.
No signature visible within the drawn area.
