Doorway, with a body

A MershNoir study. A man in a long coat leans out of a black doorway with a pistol held low, looking down at a body lying face-down on the pavement. A cat sits beside the body, entirely unbothered.
The sheet is split by one enormous black mass — the building — that takes the whole right-hand side, with the figure stepping out of its edge. The body lies along the bottom margin, so the eye drops from the gun to the corpse to the cat.
Black ink on white. No colour.
Solid brushed black against bare paper with almost no mid-tone: the drawing is made by deciding where the dark stops. The coat is drawn in a few long strokes and left open.
Ink in a sketchbook.
No signature visible; the sheet is sketchbook work.
