Don't pee in the plant
It is Super Bowl week and the club is braced for it — a private jet, a stretch limo, a crowd on the main floor, hands off the ladies, stop drinking tequila. Mersh spends the strip managing it and is last seen slumped on a couch while someone asks why he is so tired when they did all the work.
Eight panels, deliberately overloaded, with three narrow ones stacked at the left of the lower row to read as a rapid montage. A hand-lettered DON'T PEE IN THE PLANT runs up the side of one of them.
Cold blue and steel through the jet and limo against the pink, orange and gold of the floor, with Mersh in plum at the end.
Ruled vehicles and freehand crowds, washes kept thin so the paper shows through the busy panels. The crowd is suggested with repeated marks rather than drawn figure by figure.
Watercolour and ink on paper.
Signed rayrayisHAPPY in small script at the lower left.
