Landscapes, Desert — oil painting by Ray Patrick

A studio corner with a dozen oil panels in a rack and more framed on the wall behind — panoramic desert views of mesas, buttes and open flats.
Three large horizontals face the camera in the rack, one behind another, with smaller panels and framed work ranged around them. Every picture in the room is built on the same long horizontal format and the same low level horizon.
Turquoise and jade skies over ranges in cobalt and violet, with the ground in sage, rust and bone. One small sunset on the shelf at the left is the only hot picture in the photograph.
Thick and square throughout, the rock laid in flat slabs and the scrub dabbed over it. Seen together the group shows one method worked across a whole body of panels.
Oil on canvas board, a dozen or more panels. A studio photograph of a working rack, not a single picture.
No signature legible at this scale.
