Landscapes, Desert — oil painting by Ray Patrick

Oil panels on two shelf rails — a long view of a dark mesa above turquoise scrub, a wave breaking white against a headland, and four smaller panels above including a scarlet sunset.
The large mesa panel is nearest and dominates the lower right; the wave panel sits beside it and the upper rail carries four smaller works cropped by the top of the frame. Every one is an extreme horizontal built on a level line.
The mesa panel sets a plum sky and oxblood rock against scrub in strong turquoise and emerald — the boldest colour in the group. The wave panel beside it is pale, grey-green and dove, and the contrast between them is the point of the photograph.
Thick and square, each bush in the mesa panel a separate loaded dab of unmixed turquoise, and the wave built from long curved pulls of white and green laid wet into wet.
Oil on canvas board, six works. A studio photograph of a working wall, not a single picture.
No signature legible at this scale.
