D Tractor, page 3 — Gary in close-up

A close photograph of D Tractor page 3 on the board: GARY's face in the black saucer glasses, one eye magnified to the size of a plate behind the lens, teeth bared mid-lunge with the tail of his own balloon — blood biscuit — at the edge of the shot.
Cropped to the head alone and turned on the diagonal, the glasses frame cutting the picture corner to corner and the blue tape visible along the top.
Two greens, one warm and one cold, with a violet shadow under the jaw; black for the frames and a hot red inside the mouth.
Watercolour over ink. The modelling is done with one darker pass over a dry base, and the eye is the only place in the panel given a highlight.
Photograph of the original page, watercolour and ink on paper.
The page is signed; the photograph is a detail.
