D Tractor, page 25 — a tiny horseman

D Tractor page 25: the Cadillac goes off down the highway past a burning field, and a horseman the size of a cat says he likes to Party. MANGE: Ethan… scoot over. ETHAN: sorry Mange, I'm a big guy. Out on the field a small figure has found his stash, a bearded man crouches among the bodies and points, and the last thing in the book is a gold rider on a purple pony.
A wide landscape panel across the top with the car small against a huge sky, and a row of close-up panels beneath it. The page runs from distance to intimacy in one step.
A sunset of vermilion, gold and magenta across the sky and water, against the violet of the car and the cooler blues of the rocks.
Watercolour over ink with the sky laid in wet in long horizontal bands and everything in front of it painted flat. The lettering in the last panel is drawn in gold outline.
Watercolour and ink on paper.
