D Tractor, page 18 painted — the bite

A close photograph of D Tractor page 18 on the board: the bite. JOSÉ's face opens — tendons, teeth, an eye off its stalk — with blood thrown across the lens and the purple NNNOOOO lettering behind him.
Cropped hard to the head and turned on the diagonal, the jaw running corner to corner and the lettering reduced to a stripe along the top right.
Flesh pinks and vermilion against a cold grey-blue, with the blood spattered in two reds over everything else.
Watercolour over ink with the spatter flicked on last. The anatomy is drawn properly and then painted fast, which is what makes it funny rather than grim.
Photograph of the original page, watercolour and ink on paper.
The page is signed; the photograph is a detail.
