D Tractor, page 14 — the Mange
D Tractor page 14: THE MANGE pours the cup straight down his throat while VITO explains the parasitic brain worms. A brain drawn in section with a worm in a little green cap curled up inside it; the host is left a zombie. DICK, appalled in his window: tasteless zombie sundays will become the norm. ETHAN, in silhouette with his eyes burning, says we can't let that HAPPEN.
A tall shouting figure occupies the left at full height with hand-lettered capitals running up beside him, and the explanation is carried in a column of panels down the right — a brain, a diagram, two reacting faces.
Orange, turquoise and magenta through the shirt and lettering against a cold blue ground, with the brain in pink and the lower panels in warm sand.
Watercolour over ink with the shouting figure painted in flat stripes and the explanatory panels given more careful modelling, so the hysteria and the exposition are handled in different registers.
Watercolour and ink on paper.
Signed with the artist's handle at the lower right.
