Curly fries, cat fag
Mersh orders a pulled pork sandwich combo at Royce's Juicy Hippo truck and quietly asks for curly fries, which the stray cat at his feet loves. Royce rides him about it — so you some kind of cat fag? — and then hands over an extra side of fries anyway. Mersh takes them with a thank you that is not quite a thank you.
Six panels built around a single joke told twice. The truck is drawn side-on at both ends of the strip, so the sheet opens and closes on the same shape, and the two panels at the centre go in close on the cat and on Mersh's eyes behind the glasses.
Turquoise and cornflower through the truck against the warm tan of the pavement, with a sunset of orange and rose behind the last panel. The cat is left near-white so it reads at thumbnail size.
Clean ruled panels with washes kept inside the line, the sky in the last panel the one place the colour is allowed to run. A narrow letterbox panel of eyes breaks the grid for a beat.
