Comics — watercolor cartoon by Ray Patrick

Two comic panels in pen and watercolour across a sketchbook spread — a figure hauling on a great chain against a city skyline, and a second flung backward in a blast of colour.
The two panels face one another across the gutter and the action runs outward from the centre in both directions. The left figure strains to the left, the right figure is thrown to the right, so the spread reads as one movement split in half.
Magenta, scarlet and cadmium orange in the left panel against a mauve skyline; the right breaks into viridian, teal and chartreuse streaking back from the figure. Both are built on hot against cold.
Drawn first in a fast brush line, then washed inside it with the colour allowed to run past the drawing and streak across the panel borders. The speed streaks are single dragged strokes put in last.
Watercolour with pen and ink in a sketchbook, two panels, dated. A studio photograph of a page spread rather than a single picture.
No signature visible within the drawn area.
