A Spanish colonial building across a lily pond, its arcade in shadow, with a great tree at the centre and a strip of lawn running along the right.
The building fills the upper half and the pond the lower; the tree stands dead centre and ties the two together. The lawn cuts in from the lower right as a hard green diagonal.
Plum and violet through the shadowed facade against a roofline of vermilion — the one hot passage, and placed high. The tree is bottle green, the pond near-black with flecks of crimson for the lilies.
Thick and square, each plane one loaded stroke left exactly as it landed. The pond is dragged horizontally with the lily pads stamped over it; the roof is a single unbroken pull of red.
