Boarding
The first of the ROTC Cruise Funnies. Two hosts meet at the gangway with a liner towering behind them. One has arrived dragging wheeled cases and a crowd of hissing cats, the other greets him with the observation that he has brought his wife. An arrow marked BOARDING points off to the right.
A letterbox panel read left to right along the quayside, with the two figures at the centre, the ship filling the whole upper half behind them and the luggage and animals massed at their feet. The arrow at the right edge carries the eye out of the frame and into the next instalment.
Black ink on white. No colour.
The ship's hull is laid in with long ruled horizontals and rows of repeated marks for the balconies, against loose freehand figures. Small sound words — hiss, meow — are lettered low among the cases instead of drawn as balloons.
Ink on paper, drawn as a cartoon for the show.
Signed with the artist's name at the lower right and dated in MMDDYY beside it.
