Are we still in America
The first of the ROTC Travel Edition cartoons. Stepping off the plane, one of the hosts asks whether they are still in America. The answer comes back that no, this is San Francisco. The street around them supplies the evidence — figures in costume, refuse underfoot, a man in a toga with a suitcase.
A wide street scene read left to right from the aircraft steps at the left to the toga at the right, with the two speakers in the middle distance and the litter drawn carefully along the bottom edge.
Black ink on white. No colour.
Solid black in the hair and the aircraft doorway against open line in the crowd, with the slogans on shirts and bags hand-lettered. The title is drawn as a banner along the lower edge.
Ink on paper, drawn as a cartoon for the show.
Lettered ROTC TOONS: TRAVEL EDITION at the lower left with the artist's name and a date in MMDDYY at the right.
