Landscapes, Architecture — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

A low shopfront with a tiled roof and a shaded walkway, two very tall palms rising beside it, and a yellow fire hydrant on the kerb opposite.
The road runs across the lower third and the building sits behind it as a long horizontal band. The two palms cross the whole picture vertically and are cropped by the top edge; a row of smaller palms recedes to the right.
Cobalt and cerulean sky over a terracotta roof and bone walls. The planting is emerald and viridian; the hydrant is cadmium yellow — a tiny hot note placed dead centre at the foot.
Washed quickly and drawn into with the point of the brush once dry — the signboard, the window mullions and the palm trunks are all line over flat colour. The road is left as bare paper.
Watercolour on paper. Photographed on the studio table with the palette and brushes used.
No signature visible within the painted area.
