Landscapes, Architecture — gouache painting by Ray Patrick

A seafront path seen from above, lined with very tall palms, with a lifeguard tower at the right, figures walking the promenade and the sea beyond.
The path sweeps in from the lower left and curves away to the right, and the palms stand along it at diminishing heights, which carries all the depth. The sea is a flat band across the top.
Pale cerulean and mint through the sky, with the palms in bottle green and olive. The path is lavender and grey; the tower carries coral and terracotta — the only hot note.
The palm crowns are dabbed in short dark strokes on single thin trunks drawn over finished paint. The path is laid flat and its shadows cut across it in single violet pulls.
Gouache on paper, 5 × 7 in. — read off the Fabriano block beneath. Matte and opaque, with a deckle edge all round.
Right of centre, raypatrick, in red over the path, letters touching.
