Landscapes, Architecture — gouache painting by Ray Patrick

Two figures and a small child with a blue wagon waiting at a kerb, with a planted median behind them, palms along the street and low commercial buildings beyond.
The three figures stand together just right of centre, small against a wide empty road that opens toward the bottom corners. Their shadows run forward as hard diagonals and are the strongest marks in the lower half.
A clean cerulean sky over buildings of cream and taupe. The median is a mass of olive and chartreuse; the figures carry vermilion, cobalt and the wagon's strong blue.
Flat opaque planes with square ends, the road laid in long horizontal pulls. The figures are three or four strokes each with no outline, and the shadows are single flat strokes of violet.
Gouache on paper — the tubes are in the photograph beside it. Matte and opaque, with a white margin round the painted area.
Along the lower edge, raypatrick, in red over the road, letters widely spaced.
