Landscapes, Fashion, Architecture — oil painting by Ray Patrick

A lifeguard headquarters at the top of a beach ramp, seen from the boardwalk, with two women walking away down the ramp and a crowd on the sand beyond.
The building fills the right half and is seen from a low corner so two faces show; the ramp and railing run away to the left on a strong diagonal. The flagpole stands at the centre and divides the two halves.
Cerulean and periwinkle sky with cream cloud, against a building of ochre, teal and plum. The sand is warm cream, and small flecks of crimson mark umbrellas along the beach.
Thick and square, the building's planes laid once and left; the balcony rails are single thin pulls drawn over dry paint. The figures are three strokes each with no outline.
Oil on canvas board. Moderately loaded, the weave visible at the margins; photographed on the studio bench with the palette knife beside it.
Lower left, raypatrick, in cream over the ramp, letters widely spaced and partly cropped.
