Landscapes, Fashion, Architecture — gouache painting by Ray Patrick

An underpass seen from the road, the bridge deck crossing the picture and a red building above it, with two small figures walking through the opening.
The bridge runs across the middle as a dark horizontal and the opening beneath it frames a bright distance — the one lit passage in the picture, and where the eye goes. The building above closes the upper right.
Cobalt and cerulean sky with white cloud, against a building of oxblood and plum. The opening below is pale sand and cream; two figures carry orange and yellow.
Flat opaque planes with square ends, the dark mass of the bridge laid in a single pass with almost no interior detail. The figures are two marks each, put in last.
Gouache on paper, 5 × 7 in. — read off the Fabriano block beneath it. Matte and opaque, with a deckle edge all round.
Right of centre, raypatrick, in white over the shadowed wall, letters touching.
