Subject

A cartoon drawn off the show, hung on a deliberate malapropism. Two men sit in armchairs on a panel stage; one tells the other not to be so anti-semantic, and the other agrees readily enough before asking how much the first one takes from a lobbying group. A hearing of some kind carries on at the podium behind them.

Composition

The two seated figures are placed at the left and right edges facing inward, with the stage business drawn small in the gap between them. Their balloons meet at the top centre, directly above the thing neither is looking at.

Palette

Black ink on white. No colour.

Handling

Close scribbled hatching fills the whole ground and both suits, leaving the faces and shirts as reserved white, so the sheet is dark with two bright heads in it. One word is drawn in bold outlined capitals.

Medium and support

Ink on paper, drawn as a cartoon for the show.

Signature

Signed with the artist's name at the lower centre and dated in MMDDYY beside it.
