Landscapes, Animals, Sunsets — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

Five watercolour studies laid out together — a flat cumulus sky over distant hills, a banded sunset, two figures on a green shore with a white board, a horse and rider, and an interior with a shelf of books.
The sheets are ranked in two columns and seen at an angle. The cloud study and the sunset share one armature — a low horizon, a sky taking everything — while the shore study is read steeply from above with no horizon at all.
Cerulean and white in the cloud study, against a sunset of plum, scarlet and cadmium orange. The shore study is deep green and teal and the interior is umber and ochre.
The cloud is reserved as bare paper and painted round, while the sunset is flooded band on band. The two methods sit next to each other on the table, which is the interest of the photograph.
Watercolour on paper, five works. A studio photograph of a group of works rather than a single picture.
Along the lower edge of several sheets, raypatrick, in small spaced letters.
