A single broad mountain across a desert plain, with scrub and bare ground running toward the viewer and heavy blue sky above.
Three registers — sky, mountain, floor — in roughly equal thirds. The mountain is one symmetrical mass dead centre and nothing else interrupts the horizon; the foreground is read as a flat field of incident.
Deep cobalt at the zenith lightening to turquoise at the horizon, against a mountain of dusty mauve and rose. The floor runs cadmium yellow and ochre, scattered with dabs of teal and viridian.
The sky is one flooded wash carrying its own backruns and left uncorrected. The mountain is a single flat shape, and the foreground is stamped over a dry yellow ground in dozens of separate green touches, each kept apart.
